Opposite are images from a site specific performance commissioned by PVA Media Lab for Swipe 2000 Media Arts Festival.  Through a period of research at the Media Lab a series of wall paintings were discovered beneath the layers of paint in the main exhibition space of Bridport’s Literary & Scientific Institute, home to PVA during 2000.   These raw but elaborate cartoon style paintings were created during WWII by American soldiers shortly before D-Day.   Tracking down rare photographs  of these wall paintings, taken by local villagers during the war,  a sense of the room, as it existed, was re-created during a live performance using sheet glass, paint, slide projection and sound.
